For the second year in a row the U-12 Southern Tier Admirals have won the Niagara North Front Row Classic.
Southern Tier finished the round robin with a 4-0 record with wins over Burlington, Hamilton Huskies, Kingston and Rochester Jr Americans by a combined score of 19-5.
After finishing in first place in there division Southern Tier had to play the host Niagara North Stars in the semi finals. It was a hard fought game but behind solid goaltending from Jackson Mcleod and Mack Welychka's game winner late in the 2nd period
Southern Tier was able to come away with a 2-1 victory.
For the second year in a row Southern Tier had to play the Toronto Red Wings in the finals. This years game was much closer then the previous one with Southern Tier winning 3-1. Isaiah Parker had the game winner midway through the second period and Ethan Goodman put the game out of reach with a late power play goal.
Toronto never gave up though and Kaden Lachnitt was able to shut the door late and preserve the victory.
Southern Tier was lead this weekend by Mike Nevinger (6 goals) and Mack Welychka (7pts).
Even though some kids effort might not end up on the score sheet this was a complete team effort and all 17 boys contributed to this tournament win.
The coaches are very proud of this group of young men and the way they played as a team this weekend.
